"The Shot:" an inactivated vaccine, that is given with a needle, usually in the arm. The flu shot is approved for use in people older than 6 months of age, including healthy people and people with chronic medical conditions, and people 65 years and older.

The Fluzone High-Dose"Shot": designed specifically for people 65 years of age and older. This vaccine is made up of the 3 flu strains most likely to cause illness in that particular flu season, to protect people against influenza.
